[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hello Crafters,
Here I am with another entry for my most talented friend Anna’s – aka Finnabair – awesome new project of hers called Art Daily Cafe. You can read all about it over the dedicated blog here.
This month’s theme is “Stories Untold” and here’s the mood board :[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image source=”external_link” external_img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” external_style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”zoom” css_animation=”none” custom_src=”https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6eVlRTp1Kb0/XCvvgYlc-FI/AAAAAAAAOxk/A2Upb3YG8B4Lgb7mEsMgCPtswNdqiZOFQCLcBGAs/s640/2019%2B01%2Bmoodboard.jpg”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Today I went to a thrift store near my town , I always go there searching for interesting books but I never look over other sections of this store. Today, for some weird reason, I was drawn to this small aisle where there were a bunch of old post-cards. Some were recent but some were really old like 40’s or even 30’s. As I was looking through these post-cards I started finding these old photos. I was like WOAH. Those are REALLY old vintage photography. I kept searching and searching, till I found a total of 70 old vintage photos. I was shocked. I was thrilled. I was surprised. I had all kind of feelings. I never thought I was able to find those kind of things here – don’t ask me why – but i always thought that those findings were something that only Tim Holtz had the change to find! LOL — So I came home with these bunch of photos…and then I smiled because I remembered the theme of January for Art Daily Cafe…. and I kept smiling because I was really stuck with creativity. So I browse throught the photos and I was caught by this beautiful photography of this young lady and as I started dreaming of her life, I started creating my page![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”4312″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”zoom” css_animation=”none”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]I always loved Vintage Photo, but I never had the chance to actually “own” one (apart of family’s photo)
I love to dream about all the stories.
I love to imagine their dreams and hopes.
I love the “power” to give them a new story.
I am working over a mixed media paper that I covered with a bunch of vintage paper from books I bought at the thrift store. I covered everything with gesso and started building up texture. This is probably my favorite part.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”4311″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”zoom” css_animation=”none”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]I also loved to work with Pinks – I rarely use soft pinks. I don’t know why, I mean I like the color pink, I think I like all the colors — but I usually am drawn towards colder hues like greens and blues. So this was also a fun add to the challenge. But of course I had to add some brown and black in the mix, I think it makes it even more vintage.
I also find these words clippings a perfect match to the whole page…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”4310″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”zoom” css_animation=”none”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]It was hard for me to cut through this vintage photo. It kinda made me sad. I didn’t want to “ruin” it, I didn’t want to cut it, I didn’t want to tear it. Because I don’t know, it felt like I was kinda invading their privacy…but this lasted not long. I shake it off my head and started cutting ahead because after all it was a lonely photo in a thrift store….
Of course I had to add some threads here and there, and I have to admit my sewing machine had a bit of ups and downs down the road as I created too much texture haha… Also it didn’t work well on the photography…. I don’t know why! But I still like the effect of torn sewing it gave![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_empty_space][eltdf_content_title content_title=”Project details”][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”4306,4307,4308,4309,4310,4311,4312,4314″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]And that’s all for today, If you have any questions, suggestions or if you want to let me know what you think of this project, leave a message!
Stay Happy Stay Creative…till next time!
