Creating a mixed media tag with a galaxy background is easier than it looks, and the results are absolutely magical.

To start, take your tag and blend dark blue inks together, making sure to leave a white spot right in the center. This will be the base for the glowing galaxy effect. Once you’re happy with the blend, take purple ink and fill in that white spot, working it into the surrounding blues to create a seamless transition. The colors should flow naturally into each other.

Now, it’s time to add some texture. Sprinkle a few droplets of water over the background and let them sit for a few seconds before dabbing them off. The water will lift some of the ink, creating that dreamy, starry look. Let the tag dry completely before moving on to the next step.

For even more depth, grab a piece of cellophane paper and press it into distress oxide inks that match the background. Lightly spritz the ink with water before pressing it onto the tag. Dry in between layers and repeat with all the colors you originally used. This technique adds beautiful, organic patterns that mimic the swirls of a real galaxy.

To deepen the space effect, apply Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink around the edges and corners of the tag. This helps to frame the center and make the colors pop. Now, grab your White Distress Spray Stain and flick tiny drops across the surface to create the illusion of stars. For extra sparkle, use Distress Spritz and mist it lightly over the entire piece. Let everything dry thoroughly before continuing.

Now, it’s time to bring the tag to life. Choose die cuts that complement your design and arrange them however you like. For an extra touch, take a piece of mummy cloth and stain it with Tarnished Brass Distress Spray Stain. Dry it well so it keeps its shape and texture. Then, add tiny stars to enhance the celestial theme.

Finish your tag with a sentiment that speaks to you, whether it’s a word, phrase, or quote.

Once everything is in place, take a moment to admire your work. Your mixed media galaxy tag is now complete, shimmering with depth, color, and a touch of the cosmos!

And that’s all for today, If you have any questions, suggestions or if you want to let me know what  you think of this project, leave a message!

Stay happy , stay creative…Till next time!

Ciao Zoey
